19.09.2025 - 19.09.2025
Hardy Pundt, who grew up on the bird island of Memmert and is the grandson and son of two island bailiffs, writes books with great passion - novels as well as specialist books and crime thrillers.
And that's what "Memmertsand" is all about:
Memmert, 1888: Otto Leege, elementary school teacher and future "father of Memmert", experiences the moment that will fascinate him for the rest of his life. He steps onto Memmert, the sandbank off the coast of Juist. He quickly came up with the plan to turn Memmert into a bird sanctuary island. From then on, he and his family dedicate their lives to preserving the sandbank. "Memmertsand" is a novel about the Hardy Pundts family, partly biographical, about the person Otto Leege and about losing one's heart to the protection of the Wadden Sea.
