Waltraud

Waltraud is the name of the female minke whale that stranded on Juist in 2001. She did not originally come from the North Sea, but probably lost her way and unfortunately did not wash up alive on Töwerland. Waltraud was carefully preserved and her skeleton was on display for a long time in the National Park House on Juist. Today, however, you can visit Waltraud all year round, day and night, as she has found a fitting home in her own display case in front of the entrance to the National Park House.
