A trip to the seaside without seagulls—simply unimaginable. Whether on the beach, in the mudflats, or at the harbor, seagulls are always nearby. No wonder people have always wondered about these synanthropic birds. Is their plumage perhaps a sign of purity? Can they predict the weather? Is it okay to collect their eggs? And why are some of them actually so pushy? Environmental educator Reno Lottmann explores these questions on a journey into the past. He paints a colorful picture spanning from the Stone Age to the present day, from Homer to Hitchcock. And right in the middle of it all: the common gull.
