Zugvogeltage: Der Juister Osten hat viel zu bieten – Vogelkundliche Führung zur Infohütte am Kalfamer

16.10.2023 - 12.10.2026

Birdwatching tour to the information hut at Kalfamer

The eastern tip of Juist, Kalfamer, is a very special area on our island. Extensive areas of sand and shell gravel, as well as undisturbed dunes and salt marshes, make this area particularly attractive to birds. For this reason, the Kalfamer is subject to especially strict access regulations. The correspondingly quiet and secluded eastern part of Juist attracts a wide variety of bird species. To get a closer look at all these species, an observation and information hut was built on the edge of the area. Even on the way there, Frank Rabenstein—dune ranger and longtime “bird counter”—will give us a fascinating insight into the eastern end of Juist and its birdlife.

Subject to wind and weather conditions. Binoculars can be provided free of charge if needed. The meeting point is at the information board at the end of the runway. It’s best to get there by bike.
