Mushroom anchor
The mushroom anchor at the entrance to the Loog marks the island's maritime tradition. The anchor is not shaped like the traditional anchors.
Why? Because the round base of the anchor offered more resistance and better grip in the Wadden Sea and the stormy North Sea compared to a "normal" stick anchor, which we probably all have in mind.
Either way, the mushroom anchor in the Loog is a real feast for the eyes!
